Cape Cod and Islands Red Cross Deploys 25Volunteers to the Greater Worcester Area to

help Support Shelters after the Ice Storms

December 14, 2008, Hyannis, MA --- The Cape Cod and the Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross has

now deployed 25 volunteer Disaster Action Team members from all over Cape Cod to the greater Worcester

area to help support with shelters opened in the areas affected after the ice storms. The volunteers expect to

stay there, until the power has been restored, which officials expect could be another few days. In addition, the

chapter has sent shelter materials for support, to include mats, blankets and cots.

In addition, some 14 volunteers and staff members were at the Chapter House in Hyannis on Saturday and

Sunday to help with phone coverage, calling and deploying volunteers, provide health status clearances,

loading of trucks and trailers and other pertinent functions.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and

money from the American people. You can help the victims of thousands of disasters across the country

each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red

Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disaster. Contributions to the

Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter at 286 South Street, Hyannis.

Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.capecodandislandsredcross.org.

louis vuitton handbags Debate between BP and the U.S.government about how to handle the situation has been vigorous since the cap was installed.Signs of trouble emerged on the weekend but all indications on Monday suggested the cap is working and that the original well is intact and solid, BP and the government said. There had been fears of a seep of natural gas about three kilometres from the well but it was determined to be unrelated to the BP operation.on Sunday night but Adm. Allen said on Monday it was not “consequential.”BP put a positive spin on the weekend discord. The exchanges included a terse letter from Adm. Allen to the company on Sunday that demanded BP react more quickly if and when seeps are detected and monitor the situation more vigorously.“We have very good debates,” Mr. Wells said on Monday. “It's what you'd expect when you bring a lot of scientists and engineers together,” Mr. Wells told reporters. ed hardy t-shirt
